Walmart To Work With TV Executive For Upcoming Streaming Service

These days we’re starting to see more companies venture into the video streaming market. There are platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and we have also heard that Apple could be thinking of getting in on that action, while Disney is also said to be launching their own service next year.

This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that Walmart could be next. According to reports, it seems that Walmart will be collaborating with TV executive Mark Greenberg for an upcoming video streaming service. Greenberg was the former CEO of Epix and also held senior roles at Showtime and HBO, so it is clear that Walmart’s collaboration with the executive is definitely with some kind of TV entertainment in mind.

However given that the competition in the streaming field is getting quite fierce, it will be interesting to see how Walmart plans on differentiating themselves. We have heard that Walmart could be planning on using Vudu (which they acquired back in 2010) and that pricing could be one way to differentiate their services, where it could cost only $8 a month.

No word on when Walmart’s streaming service is expected to launch (if at all), but we’ll keep our eyes peeled. Until then maybe take this report with a grain of salt for now.
