Latest Gran Turismo Sport Update Adds Microtransactions

Polyphony Digital, the developer of Gran Turismo Sport, had previously said that there would be no microtransactions in the game. It’s reversing course with the latest Gran Turismo Sport update which brings gameplay and visual improvements in addition to the ability to purchase cars in the game using real money.

Polyphony Digital has made more than 200 cars available for sale through the PlayStation Store. The developer has tried its best to not upset the community with the addition of microtransactions so all of these cars remain attainable through in-game credits as well. The top-end cars can’t be purchased using real money so players will have to grind in order to get those cars.

Only cars that cost less than two million in-game credits can be purchased directly from the PlayStation Store. Players in the Asia and Americas region can start purchasing cars today while those in the Europe, Middle East, Africa, And Oceania region will be able to do this starting August 2nd.

The latest update for the title also adds seven new cars to the game which include Lewis Hamilton’s 2017 Formula 1 championship winning car. The new Circuit de Sainte-Croix has six geometric layouts, this original track is based on the one near Sainte-Croix Lake in Provence, Southern France.
