Earlier this year there was a rumor that LG could be working on a new hybrid smartwatch dubbed the LG Watch Timepiece. It was unclear as to when the watch would be announced, but a recent tweet by leakster Evan Blass has suggested that we could be getting close to an official reveal.
According to Blass, the device has recently made its way past the FCC. What this means is that given that devices are required to pass through the FCC before they are sold in the US, it means that the smartwatch is now one step closer to being launched. No word on when that might be, but like we said the fact that it made it through the FCC means that we’re probably close.
Q7 launched about a week ago. V35 (ThinQ) just announced today. And the watch — probably the rumored LG Watch Timepiece hybrid — has already passed through the FCC, and should debut soon. https://t.co/qWUJSn6KaP

Details on this particular timepiece is scarce at the moment, but the fact that it was suggested that it is a hybrid is interesting. We’ve seen hybrid smartwatches before, where these timepieces feature a regular analog movement, but are packed with certain smart features and sensors. Withings was one of the companies in the past that developed such a device.
The upside is that these hybrids blend in easily with day-to-day wear, but the downside is that using your watch to check your messages and mail would be impossible due to the lack of a display.
