Pokemon GO Has The Most Players It Has Ever Had Since 2016

It’s not surprising that when Pokemon GO was first launched that it was a massive success. This combined the success and fame of the Pokemon franchise with that of the ability to “catch” Pokemon in real-life thanks to the use of augmented reality. However the game did face some problems at the start, along with features that were promised but never launched.

However it seems that Pokemon GO might have caught a second wind because according to the latest figures from SuperData Research (via VentureBeat), the game is said to be experiencing its largest playerbase to date since the summer of 2016. SuperData doesn’t provide the exact figures, but they claim that Pokemon GO managed to earn $104 million in May which is up 174% from the same period last year.

This seems to indicate that there are more players than before, either that or players are spending more money than last time. However to Niantic’s credit, the company has been hard at work pushing out new updates to the game over the past couple of years, and it was announced not too long ago that trading will finally be coming to the game. There are still some features that have yet to be launched, such as PVP battles, but we suppose they will come in time.
