Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the latest celebrity to get into the headphones game but he’s doing things a bit differently. He has teamed up with JBL and Under Armour to launch his own wireless workout headphones called Project Rock. They’re priced at $249 and are available for purchase starting today.
The Rock’s signature Brahma Bull insignia adorns the cans so that anyone looking at you is left in no doubt whose headphones you’re sporting. A Spotify playlist curated by the man himself has also been launched alongside the headphones and it’s called Iron Paradise Airwaves.
Under the hood they’re actually Under Armour’s new Sport Wireless headphones that have been given a few cosmetic changes to transform them into the Project Rock edition.
Since the idea here is to ensure that the headphones remain in place and comfortable no matter how intense your workout is, the headphones feature UA’s SuperVent fabric for improved breathability and a UA grip material for stability. The pads are removable and washable by hand while the headphones can also be dried between workouts by placing them in the ventilated hard case that they ship with.
JBL’s technology brings support for Bluetooth 4.1 and speech-optimized mics. The cans have a 610mAh battery which can provide an hour’s worth of playback after a quick five-minute charge. Interested customers can pick one up starting today from UA.com and Under Armour stores. The Project Rock headphones are priced at $249.
