YouTube Could Be One Step Closer To Rebranding ‘Red’ To ‘Premium’

Word on the street is that YouTube has a new music streaming service in the works but when exactly it will launch is unclear. However according to a report from Android Police, there are signs that we could be one step closer to seeing the new service launched. This is based on an APK teardown of the YouTube app for Android.

According to the teardown, it reveals a new logo that calls itself “Premium” along with the YouTube logo. Presumably this will be the new service that will be launched, which had previously been referred to as YouTube Remix, but it was stated that Remix was simply a name used internally and not the actual name of the service that would be launched.

For those unfamiliar, YouTube Red is a subscription service that gives users access to exclusive original content from various YouTubers, but if the reports are to be believed, then it seems that YouTube could be looking to merge their services and create one streamlined service for original YouTube content and music.

There have also been rumors that Google Play Music could be killed off when the new YouTube music service is launched, but whether or not that is true remains to be seen. That being said, Google I/O is coming out in the next couple of weeks so maybe we might get an announcement soon.
