Moto G6 Joins Amazon’s Discounted Prime Exclusive Lineup

Amazon launched its Prime Exclusive Phone program in 2016. It offered handsets to Prime members at a discount provided that they lived with ads on the lockscreen. The company later decided to change this and removed the ads from the lockscreen entirely. That didn’t mean it was shutting down the program. Amazon continues to add more devices to the program with the Moto G6 now being the latest addition.

The lockscreen ads were meant to make up for the discount that Amazon offers to Prime members who purchased these handsets but it decided to remove them because fast unlocking technologies like facial recognition and fingerprint sensors have more or less made the lockscreen obsolete.

Amazon’s incentive for selling these devices at a discount now is to pre-load its apps such as Prime Video, Prime Music, and Alexa. Amazon has now decided to add Motorola’s latest mid-range device, the Moto G6, to the Prime Exclusive Phones lineup.

Prime members can get the device from Amazon for $234.99 instead of its regular retail price of $249.99. The Moto G6 is powered by a 1.8GHz octacore Qualcomm processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It features a 5.7 inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, dual rear cameras, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 8.0 Oreo.
