Dell Reportedly Developing A Dual-Screen ARM Windows Device

Even though there have been countless reports that Microsoft is working on a foldable dual-screen device, we have yet to see one from the company despite the fact that it also has patents covering such a device. It appears that one of Microsoft’s closest OEM partners may be working on a similar device. A new report claims that Dell is working on a dual-screen Windows-powered device with an ARM chip.

The report claims that Dell has been working on this device codenamed “Januss” since the summer of 2017 at least. It claims that while the project is in the prototype stage, it’s far from confirmed if Dell actually plans on releasing the device.

The device, if it ever comes to market, will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 850 processor which is going to be used in notebooks and hybrid devices powered by the ARM-enabled version of Windows 10 in the second half of this year.

The two displays of this device may be connected with a hinge or the second display could simply be mounted on the outside of the back cover of the main display. There’s no clarity on this just yet.

It’s also expected to feature at least one USB Type-C port for power delivery and connecting external devices. Additional components may include an accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, etc.

No word as yet on whether Dell is going to bring this device to market and how much it’s going to cost if it does decide to launch it.
