OnePlus CEO Deletes OnePlus 6 Notch Appreciation Tweet

After countless rumors that the upcoming OnePlus flagship is going to feature a display notch, the company officially confirmed yesterday that the OnePlus 6 will indeed have a notch as it’s going to adopt this design language to maximize the screen real estate. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei tweeted a part of the official render which confirmed the notch and said that users should “learn to love the notch.” There has been an outcry from fans about this decision and Pei has since deleted that tweet.

Many of the company’s fans did not want it to adopt the notch even though Pei talked it up considerably in his interview yesterday which confirmed that this design choice has been made for the OnePlus 6.

Those fans have been vocal about their dislike for the notch and they now appear to be disappointed in the company because it has gone against their wishes. Perhaps that’s the reason why Pei decided to delete the tweet. You won’t find any mention of a notch on his Twitter timeline anymore. That interview is still there, though.

Unless the company takes the drastic measure of ditching the notch in response to the outcry from fans at this stage which will most likely delay its launch timeline, all signs point to a notch on the OnePlus 6’s display, regardless of whether the fans like it or not.
