Music videos tend to drive a lot of views online so it’s about time that they got due recognition in Apple Music, one of the fastest-growing music subscription services on the market today. Apple has confirmed that music videos will now have their own separate section in Apple Music. It had previously said that this will happen with iOS 11.3 but it has gone ahead and rolled out the new section anyway even before iOS 11.3 has been publicly released.
Users will be able to find music videos on Apple Music now by heading over to the main browse tab in the app. It’s not like music videos are only just being added to Apple Music. The service has allowed subscribers to access them since the day it was launched, however, today’s change will make them more prominent and easier to locate.
Apple will put the service’s recommendation algorithm to good use and provide users with curated video playlists which will include playlists such as “The A-List: Pop Videos.” This dedicated section for music videos on Apple Music will be ad-free.
Apple will also ramp up its efforts to pull people away from YouTube and Vevo where they get the bulk of their music video fix from by launching more music videos that will premiere exclusively on Apple Music.
