Samsung Galaxy S9 Sales In Korea Have Apparently Hit Record Lows

In the past whenever Apple and Samsung have released new flagship phones, they were almost guaranteed a success, but fast forward to today, it seems that neither of these companies are seeing the same stellar sales that they once did. In fact over in Korea, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S9 isn’t selling as well as Samsung would like.

According to a report from ETNews, it appears that the Galaxy S9’s sales in Korea have been less than stellar. The report cites figures from the country’s top three carriers in which Samsung managed to sell 707,000 units of the Galaxy S9 in the past two months which is apparently the lowest-ever figure for the company.

The report goes on to cite iPhone X sales figures too which have only managed to rack up 475,000 units sold over the past four months. An official from a local telco who spoke on condition of anonymity was quoted as saying, “Considering there were no new phone launches by its competitors, including Samsung, 70,000 unit sales per month is considered extremely low.”

There were no reasons given as to why sales might have been low, but given that we’ve seen Apple and Samsung steadily increase their pricing over the years, it is possible that combine that with competitors from China offering phones on the cheap, it could have resulted in lower sales.
