Leica Q2 leaks out and the images suggest it's a waterproof camera

Remember the Leica Q? Probably not, because it launched in 2015, which, in tech years, means it's getting quite long in the tooth.

But, to refresh your memory, four years ago we thought it was the best fixed-lens full-frame compact ever made, thanks to exceptional optical and imaging capabilities. Whether you’re a staunch Leica fan, or simply a photography fan, the Leica Q is something we thought would transcend users old and new, thanks to its combination of classic and modern features. So, to put it mildly, we're super stoked to hear Leica is prepping a Q2.

A Leica Q successor, thought to be called the Leica Q2, has leaked out ahead of a rumoured 6 March unveiling. Nokishita shared the leaked images, showing the Leica Q2 will keep the same design as the original Q, save for a few minor changes like a new logo. The images also show droplets everywhere, suggesting some type of weatherproofing will be included. Speaking of the camera, that's where the biggest changes will be found.

Leica Rumors claimed the Leica Q2 will be upgraded from a 24-megapixel sensor to a 47-megapixel sensor, complete with 4K video support. Little else is known at this point, but we'll keep you posted. Also, remember, an announcement is supposedly incoming.

Lastly, Leica cameras are known for being out of this world. Not just for their no-nonsense build and super-sharp picture quality, but astronomical pricing, too. So expect this Leica Q2 to cost at least as much as the Q, which had a £3k tag.
