Olympus is aiming to convert the professional DSLR user with its latest addition to the OM-D E-M1 family.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is a Micro Four Thirds camera with enough nous to cater for pro needs and has a price tag to match.
Costing a penny shy of £2,800 for the body only, it has on-camera 5-axis sync image stabilisation that makes use of a new gyro sensor to offer up to 7.5 shutter speed steps of compensation.
Its 20.4-megapixel Live MOD sensor and dual TruPicVIII image processors are coupled with an all-new autofocus system to capture tracked shots fast and accurately.
Thanks to the dual processors, the camera also supports two high-speed UHS-II SD cards for greater storage capabilities and transfer speeds. And it is Wi-Fi-enabled for hands-free capture and can transfer to a computer wirelessly.
There is a GPS sensor built-in too. Plus, the body is dust, water and freeze proof for more demanding shooting conditions.
The E-M1X is capable of shooting up to 4K video with a Cinema 4K mode providing the highest recording resolution in an Olympus camera to date (4096 x 2160).
It can also shoot Full HD video at up to 120fps for slow motion playback.
The Olympus OM-D E-M1X will be available from February. It is compatible with Olympus' existing and new ranges of professional-grade Micro Four Thirds lenses and accessories.
