While we adults have plenty of smartwatch models to choose from, our little ones can be said to be less fortunate. After all, smartwatches are not known to be the most durable and robust devices in the world, and have yet to feature a revolutionary G-Shock type of design that will be able to let it survive a 3-story drop without experiencing internal damage. Children tend to be far more active and adventurous than adults, which is perhaps why easily damaged smartwatches are avoided. The Octopus Watch Motion Edition might shake things up a bit though, thanks to the folks over at JOY Familytech.
The launch of the Octopus Watch Motion Edition is a bold move, with this timepiece for little ones being the first icon-based watch of its kind that empowers children through the teaching of good habits and the concept of time. In addition, it also doubles up as a sort of fitness tracker by encouraging them to remain active rather than lead a sedentary couch potato lifestyle.
Suitable for those who are aged between 3 to 7 years, the Octopus Watch Motion Edition will feature an Octopus App that boasts of more than 1,500 colorful icons and easy schedule setup. It will also be able to send gentle reminders to your little ones through a noise-free vibration function, and the new built-in motion sensor will also keep track of the wearer’s physical activity throughout the day. With children requiring plenty of sleep in order to grow up strong and healthy, I do wonder whether it would have been better to include a sleep monitor as well.
Interestingly enough, there is also space to store “In Case of Emergency” (ICE) information as and when required. Available in red and blue colors, the Octopus Watch Motion Edition will be accompanied by the Companion Nightlight Charging Station.
